Pulling Together
North Shore United Response
The Lions Club of Lago Vista has initiated a call to action to unite the many non-profit organizations, city agencies and resourceful local businesses in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of recovery efforts. The North Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce was exceptional in in responding to our request and calling an emergency President's Council Zoom meeting where the community leaders could share their efforts, their needs and their resources. Many thanks to them.
Current Situation:
Flooding in Central Texas has caused unanticipated challenges for the North Shore Community
-
The Lake: (Current Lake Level HERE)
All waterfront parks in Lago Vista and property of the Lago Vista Property Owners Association have reopened to vehicles and pedestrians. Residents and their guests are welcome in the park but due to increased bacteria levels and debris still evident in the lake swimming is not recommended. There have been multiple reports of broken sewer lines and disrupted septic tanks along a vast expanse of Lake Travis Shoreline.
-
The POA staff and other dock workers continue to work on securing the Marinas, and protecting property.

Our Communities:
-
Jonestown:
-
Jonestown has lost one of its parks. Several businesses have been washed out and Jonestown has become the epicenter for the recovery effort around Sandy Creek and the Round Mountain area. The run off water from the many creeks in the area funnel into Jonestown and is the last point before entry to Lake Travis, bringing with it much debris.
-
The Sandy Creek and Round Mountain areas have been seriously damaged. Passage is limited due to recovery efforts and delivery of emergency supplies. Do not visit the area without prior authorization.

-
Lago Vista:
-
(From Mayor Lion Kevin Sullivan)The Lago Vista Emergency Services District and the Emergency Operations Center has been monitoring the situation since midnight, July 4 . Major efforts have been directed at search and rescue.
-
(From City Councilman Lion Shane Saum) Please be advised that emergencies should be reported 9-1-1 and not the City, PD or FD as most of those resources are out in the field.
-
The Island's on Lake Travis lake pumps are down, which provide A/C to the complex and divers won't be able to go down for a week. Many elderly folks there may be without A/C for a week or more.
