

Shepherd Fellows

The Celeste and Harrison Shepherd Fellowship is awarded by the Lone Star Eye Bank to deserving individuals that have distinguished themselves through service to saving sight. The fellowship is named for Celeste and Harrison Shepherd, longtime Lions and Eye Bank supporters.
In 1925 Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become the “Knights for the Blind.”
Miracles In Sight (MIS), a nonprofit eye bank that recovers, processes and distributes ocular tissue, announced that it has expanded its reach with a new partnership. Lone Star Eye Bank based in Manor, Texas, has joined the MIS family. The agreement was effective Aug. 3, 2020.
In 2001 the eye bank moved to Manor, Texas where they operate a 24-hour, 365 days per year operation providing high quality eye tissue to transplant surgeons.
