The Celeste and Harrison Shepherd Fellowship is awarded by the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank to deserving individuals that have distinguished themselves through service to saving sight. The fellowship is named for Celeste and Harrison Shepherd, longtime Lions and Eye Bank supporters.
In 1925 Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become the “Knights for the Blind.”
In 1974 our Lone Star Lions Eye Bank (LSLEB) was created by Central Texas Lions (in Districts 2-S3, 2-S5 and 2-X3) and they support the charitable mission of eye donation and sight restoration.
In 2001 the eye bank moved to Manor, Texas where they operate a 24-hour, 365 days per year operation providing high quality eye tissue to transplant surgeons.
