Hunger is a key pillar of Lions efforts and there is hunger in our community. Lions in Lago Vista have been joined by the Point Venture Lions in meeting the needs of children who receive free or reduced price meals at school. When the schools are closed, they are hungry – the local food pantries have told us they run out of food especially in the long summer break. In conjunction with the LVISD nutrition department and the school counselors,
Hope Austin which distributes weekend bags of food and the local food pantries, we are developing a sustainable program to supply the nutritional needs of these children. Our first effort will take place during the almost three week long break
at Christmas. Once we have tried and revised our system, we plan on providing meals for spring break and the summer. Families register so we know just how much food to provide and they can choose to pick up the supplies or to have it delivered by the Lago Vista Lions concession trailer.

There will be roles for all Lions to play in this worthy effort!
