LAGO VISTA LIONS CLUB HAS TWO DROP OFF SITES FOR USED EYE GLASSES
The Lago Vista Lions Club has drop off sites for your used eye glass donations. Purple mail boxes with Lions decals are conveniently located at the Lago Vista City Hall (drive thru) and in front of the Lago Vista Super S. It is estimated that the average household has from 3 - 5 pairs of unused eye glasses or sunglasses somewhere in their homes at all times. The Lago Vista Lions club want you to put these to good use so that someone less fortunate may have the "Gift of Sight".

Since Lions Club International accepted the challenge of Helen Keller, who was both blind and deaf, to make "Sight" their first priority, Lions clubs around the world have been recycling eye glasses for over 70 years. Ironically they named our program "Sight First".

Since the Lago Vista Lions club accelerated our program a few years ago we have sent over 10,000 pair of used eye glasses to our Recycling Center in Midland, Texas. This has been accomplished with the help of our sister club in Pt. Venture, Texas. In 2005 we furnished 25 eye exams and glasses to 25 school children in the Lago Vista area. So far in January and February, 2006 we have collected 896 pair of glasses and furnished eight exams and glasses.

Did you know that anytime you are in Midland, Texas you can go by our recycling center located at 200 Plaza Street (Tel 432 683 3611) and they will be happy to give you a tour of their facility and explain everything they do.
